A Scottish man was arrested and fined after allegedly trying to open the door of a KLM plane during a flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam last week.

He was escorted from the plane at Schiphol Airport in handcuffs and spent the night in a Dutch jail.

Gray also was fined $675 by KLM and banned from flying with the airline for five years. He had to borrow money from a friend to buy a plane ticket home on another airline.
Gray says after the alleged incident in flight, "The crew told me to stay in my seat and I was to be arrested when the plane landed. I tried to explain it was a simple mistake. It was a misunderstanding. The police came and arrested me," he said. "They weren't too friendly."
Uncertain if also might be charged in Scotland for the incident, Gray says he would never attempt to actually open the door in flight. "I realise the danger of that sort of thing," he said.
Neither Schiphol Airport nor Royal Dutch Border Police would comment. KLM only said a passenger had been given to authorities after "his misbehavior" on a flight.
